Western Clay

Packaging Design | Branding

This is a packaging design for the company Western Clay. They create industrial materials made of sodium bentonite that is mined in Utah. The company prides itself on the products being natural and safe, so I designed icons for their Pond Seal 20 product to communicate this.

I was given the "W" logo and told to create a design building from that point. I used repeating shapes from that logo to represent the molecular structure of sodium bentonite.

These bags are often used in infrastructure and industrial processes, such as trench breaking, where the bags are placed in the trench to create structure and avoid corrosion. Because they are being used in the earth, the bags need to be able to decompose over time, so the choice was made to use brown paper bags.
